Governors Island is a 172-acre island in New York Harbor, within the borough of Manhattan in New York City. It is located approximately 800 yards south of Manhattan island, and is separated from Brooklyn to the east by the 400-yard-wide Buttermilk Channel.

The Governors Island Ferry will take you across the East River from May 1, 2019, with the Governors Island Ferry until the end of September 2019 for only $ 2. Governors Island does not feel like New York City at all, which is probably one of the reasons why many locals come here. A lot of tourists really don’t know much about this island.
